Property Domainer is a news and information site for those owning, purchasing or developing domain names in the real estate and property industry and related service industries.
For most companies picking a domain name is a simple as seeing which variant of their company name is available, and for those with a major brand name this will work just fine, as many people will just type in your company name, add a .com and see what comes up, but what of those who are not lucky enough to be a major brand? Well for those a domain name choice is much more interesting, do you go for your company name and build up your brand and hope that in 5 years you'll be a big enough brand that most of your clients and potential clients type in your name?
Most businesses will go out of business before they have a chance to build up brand related traffic to their websites, so it is a sensible move to look at a keyword based domain which can provide type in traffic and will be well rankied by search engines as the cotent is generally relevant to the keywords in the domain.
However don't expect to be able to buy realestate.com or property.com - these premium domains are always already registered and if for sale will command significant prices, probably in the seven figure US dollar range. On the other hand it is often possible to pick up a good keyword domain if you are looking at a regional site or a local site - as a general rule the larger the area you are looking to cover the higher the price will be.
